Nathan Eckert
architectural designer, CPHD
Nathan Eckert is the founder of Beyond Form Studio, an architectural design practice focused on sustainable, high-performance design. A Registered Building Technician in Ontario and a Certified Passive House Designer, Nathan has over a decade of experience in residential design, specializing in net-zero housing, Passive House, and LEED-certified projects.
Before pursuing architecture, Nathan developed a strong foundation in computer modelling and carpentry, both of which continue to shape his practical and detail-oriented approach to design. His work is deeply rooted in regional influences, drawing from the distinct vernacular of rural Ontario to create buildings that respond to climate, landscape, and resource efficiency. He believes that true sustainability lies in well-crafted, enduring structures - built not only for visual appeal, but are delicate on the land and designed intentionally to surpass conventional construction methods.
Nathan holds a strong interest in building science, energy-efficient design, and construction methodologies that minimize environmental impact. His work balances technical precision with thoughtful spatial design, ensuring that each project enhances both the natural and built environment.
In addition to practice, Nathan is committed to knowledge-sharing, guiding clients, builders and emerging professionals toward a more sustainable and resilient built future.

Guiding Principles
1. Form with Purpose
While form is integral, it serves a higher purpose. Each design emerges from a thoughtful understanding of how people interact with their environment. By creating spaces that grow, change and endure while pushing the boundaries of traditional design paradigms.
2. Performance Beyond Aesthetics
We go beyond physical appeal, prioritizing energy efficiency, sustainability and resilience. Every structure is engineered to achieve high-performance, meeting both environmental and human needs.
3. Timeless Regionalism
Rooted in the traditions of place, our designs honor regional typologies while embracing modern building science and technologies.
4. Spaces That Evoke Connection
Beyond walls and materials, we design spaces that inspire connection - to nature, to community and to self. Natural light, thoughtful proportions and material authenticity
At Beyond Form, we design for what lies beyond the visible: meaning, purpose and impact.
